WEEK 2
Less than seven days ago I was pulling an all-nighter to launch this campaign, and look at it go! It's going so fast y'all hit TWO stretch goals in the time it took me to get this update out. So today's update is LONG!
You voted, and today's unlock is the indomitable pirate queen, strongest of the seas! Captain Cyndane! Cyndane was a machineless commander co-designed by a backer (of the same name) in AEGIS1's campaign. Basically all of those backer-made commanders were seeds for future AEGIS entries, and here she is again!
After losing everything to a mysterious giant sea entity 3 years ago, she's back and ready to fight in the SIGEA Tournament to get a new ship and crew. Her modified GET robot can pull multiple enemies in via a torrent of hooks. Her Commander Ability prevents noncombat damage, meaning she's unphased by collision, status effects and any other cowardly acts!
Cyndane's one of four planned usable Commanders on the "Challenger" prebuilt team mentioned in our last update.
Things are getting spicy over on planet Sigaea. At some point in our story, everyone finds out what was lurking in this world's treacherous seas. The biggest of which is IKA-SAUR - a colossal, rogue AEGIS-Class robot with absolute dominance over the oceans.
With IKA-SAUR comes a gaggle of other "Kaiju"-type robots - combined bots with the new mechanic Emerge. Emerge allows you to ignore where your robots are on the board when they combine, letting you pop these biggun's onto the field out of nowhere.
Our robot total is now 74.
This stretch goal also unlocks IKA-SAUR as a Solo Boss!
SOLO BOSS BATTLE MODE
You asked for it, and it's here! Perhaps AEGIS2's biggest request, and what I've been focusing on for the last year or so.
My goal with the mode was to make it as painless and intuitive as possible - there are few additional assets and the core rules are inherited from our other main new mode, Starpoint Arena (post forthcoming). Easy to both learn and set up, and it's compatible with all robots in the game.
If you like AEGIS, you'll like the solo mode. I'm not much of a solo gamer myself, and I made sure to build something that I'd want to play and did the base rules proud!
Boss example - Design/Rules not final
Each solo boss has a new (horizontal) card and uses the standee of the same name. They all have suggested prebuilt teams, or just use one of the player prebuilds in the box. You have 3-6 rounds to beat up the boss, with each one needing you to adapt to a different play style.
You can see a good playthrough here, though Lance's Solo Materials are now a bit outdated:
Get More Bossy, Together
AEGIS2 now comes with three solo bosses! Two representing the two AEGIS-Class Voltron robots in the box, and one for Ysis's ARLYSION (see update 1). As we keep going on this campaign, we'll unlock more and more bosses. You may even see some familiar faces from AEGIS1!
The AEGIS2 scenario book (post forthcoming) will also have some co-op scenarios were you and one other player can punch some big bots as a team!
So keep slamming those friend discords and facebook groups! Let's unlock as many bosses as we can!
A rebellious youth from the Allied Provinces, 16-year old Ashla has joined the SIGEA tournament on behalf of both her nation and her friends captured in the Five Nations War. She hopes that by winning the tournament, she can finally force the other nations to free them.
After discovering it buried deep in the ice, she’s spent three years decking out her colorful, star-headed AHMNI-000. Together they've become a tournament fan favorite for their flashy combat style. But there may be more to the AHMNI than Ashla realizes.
Ashla's Prebuilt Team
Strategy and mechanics:
Ashla’s team revolves around aggressively beating her opponent down, using the GAMBIT mechanic for a barrage of risky attacks, and when her opponent moves in for a counter-offensive, she uses ACCELERATOR to combine from surprising positions in order to continue the assault. The AHMNI-000’s special power WILDCARD allows it to take the place of any other basic robot on her team when combining, allowing Ashla to access her strongest robots even if her earlier gambles didn’t pay off. When she’s ready to deal the knockout punch, Ashla combines into the AWE-SSM, and rockets her way to victory in a barrage of fists.
While we get our manufacturer quotes sorted, let's see what sort of thing y'all would like:
A. KICKSTARTER/BK EXCLUSIVE BIG SPECIAL D6 DIE
or
B. KICKSTARTER/BK EXCLUSIVE CROSS-OVER PROMO CARD
with [mystery company]!
We may do both!

500 backers, welcome to the new heroes! The growth continues! More goals unlocked! Thank you for your continued support. An explosive start is awesome, but now we're heading into the 30-day "Kickstarter Marathon". We have stuff up our sleeve to keep the surprises coming though.
What are your favorite Kickstarter campaigns, and fun things they've done throughout their runs?
It's Music To My Ears
Did you know that AEGIS2 has a vocal theme song? Or maybe you watched our Kickstarter video with the sound off (shame!! jk i do it too). Well not only do we have the 90-second TV-sized OP, we also have a full four minute version by our boy Baschfire. He's very talented, please sub to his channel.
The very inspired lyrics are by Kroze Kresky, our hero (and Solis Game Studios Marketing Manager), and Nadthefox and Erin Hatch also assisted in the composition/recording!
Another AEGIS Commander, a character who has their own special robot with a team-wide ability that alters how you play. With him comes 8 more robots added to the box, bringing the total up to 69.
Before we talk about this magnificent man, let's talk about how AEGIS is packaged. It has a lot of robots. On the Contents image, you'll see all of these bots are sorted into pre-built teams, so you can learn easily and setup quickly. AEGIS is very customizable, but it's not required!
Pick a character that sounds cool, slap their team on the board, and go!
We did this in AEGIS1, where there were 8 prebuilt teams, and each had:
Five Basic Robots (One Commander Robot)
Two sideboard Basic Robots (for a li'l team customization)
Three Combined Robots to make mid-battle
Then the last 20 robots were "expansion content" for team building/drafting - a bunch of other commanders, larger robots, etc. In AEGIS2, we're making sure the teams are easier to pick up and play, and that all robots are sorted into teams, so that they see use.
Thus,most AEGIS2 teams have:
5 Basic Robots (One Commander Robot)
4 Combined Robots
5 basics, 4 combines
You pick it up and you have five bots to grok, no need to overthink with any extras. We give you a fourth combine option because it's a Combining Robot Game. Theseupcoming Stretch Goal teams are a little more spicy though.
Falsetto's team is actually called the ChallengerTeam. It represents all the nationless randos from around Sigaea who show up to fight in the global tournament for their own ends.
The Challenger Team has:
Four (planned) Commander Robots (Choose 1!)
Four Basic Robots
Four Combines
So you take this team out of the box, choose a commander card you like, and then use the rest of the bots as normal. The team works a little differently depending on who you pick to lead it. Pretty neat! The four Challenger Team leaders are Falsetto,Oon, [Stretch Goal], and [Stretch Goal]. (See today's poll).
We thought this was a great little experiment with how we deliver our game's content, and I'm excited to see how you'll like it when the game is released. You can help test in our Discord!
Ahem... FALSETTO THE ROBOT KING
Meme Also by Noah
Falsetto is the King of Sigaea by birthright. Well, not really? But maybe he's right? He thinks he is, and has entered the SIGEA Tournament to prove it. It's lonely at the top, so he lives in solitude in his castle of destroyed robot parts way out in the Great States desert. One day he decides that a king is nothing without acknowledgement from his subjects, and thus Falsetto has entered the global stage.
Saur-900 by Noah Nagata
Falsetto's personal robot is the Saur-900. Normally SAURs are railgun robots, but his are bent up like a crown. Falsetto specializes in Drone warfare, a new mechanic in AEGIS2. His FalseArmy power can summon, duplicate and activate little turret drones whenever he faces adversity.
When really backed into a corner, he'll combine into some big dinosaur railgun robots to really lay down the hurt.
GAN-SAUR by Noah Nagata
Kneel or Perish
So for the next two Commander Unlocks, we have two RETURNING AEGIS1 Characters! Wonder what they've been up to?
But who should make it into the game at $59,000? What if we never make another dollar after $59k?! Then the other one will obviously be left on the cutting room floor, so choose wisely:
A. The Masked Fighter Seeking The Greatest Challenge!
B. The Indomitable Pirate Queen, Strongest of the Seas!
And then after that at $64,000, we'll have another very special big content unlock for you:
Yesterday was quite a zoo. There is no social media team here, just me, and I've never had more notifications in my life. So while I've been answering questions and posting, updating the campaign has been a slow. But now I have some folks helping out!
Page Updates
Today I've updated the campaign a bit in alignment with our big money.
Added a FAQ section (which questions do you want to see up there?)
New Add-ons! Details below
Updated the Stretch Goals! Details below
Added a Gallery with more pictures of the actual game, plus some art from our team and friends
Added a new $10 tier for people who just want the Season 1 Upgrade Pack
Stretch Goals!
Y'all excitement really shattered my expectations! We had to readjust a lot of stuff on the back end due to the crazy success, and I'm doing a lot of meetings and emails with our manufacturer/fulfillment partners to double-check numbers on possible unlockables.
In the meantime:
32,000HIT!Pocket Paragons!
Our friends at Solis Game Studio are nice enough to partner with us and give you access to some nice Pocket Paragons content ahead of its reprint. It's a really good game! Lightning quick and with a ton of asymmetry, and naturally, the AEGIS box with our characters is the best one. This version includes 2 bonus characters!
Naturally, these add-ons will also give our Kickstarter more momentum too. Maybe we'll even be able to get them to make a new AEGIS Paragons box with AEGIS2 characters if we do well enough here! The mat is also very nice with its fancy stitched edges and can be used for your normal TCG-playing needs!
$42,000: OON & RACCA APPEAR
Another stretch goal, another new Commander! In AEGIS, commanders are special robot cards with abilities that affect your whole team. If you're making your own team or drafting, they're great focus points to build around.
This stretch goal unlocks just the one robot, but once we hit $55k, you'll see why!
Oon is an environmentalist on the planet Sigaea, which is traditionally always plunged into some kind of global conflict, so there are way more warriors than scientists. The clumsy, energetic Oon is very interested in the planet's sparse wildlife, and how it's been affected by there being omnipresent giant robot battles for the last couple years.
Her partner is named Racca, a weird raccoon-like creature. Unlike all other commanders on Sigaea who remotely control their robots, Oon's team is controlled by Racca, a literal animal.
Oon & Racca's robot is the thematic Esper-101, a customized bot that looks like... take a guess:
Its ability is called Instinct, and it lets your team roll a die to move after being attacked!
Oon is one of several characters who is unaligned to any of the Five Nations, and is fighting in the SIGEA tournament for a greater cause. Join her in battle! Save the raccoons!!
$50,000: 6-PLAYER MAT UPGRADE GET
We've been sold out of the 6-player mat for so long! Truly I wasn't expecting such a demand for it and I'm excited to bring it back to life. On our reprint, I think we're going to adjust it a bit.
Also, trivia: it's pretty nice for 3-player since the starting zones are equally spaced!
The original had spaces for custom terrain tiles (which come with AEGIS1 only), but this time we'll have the terrain illustrated on it.
We're also going to try and put Energy Trackers on the mat itself. The arena is a hex on a big rectangle, so that means the edges have been dead space. The other option is to die-cut the mat itself into a giant hexagon, which I'm going to ask our manufacturer about.
But let's POLL!! Opinion time!
Would you rather:
A. Add useful trackers to the empty spots!
B. Cut the mat into a big hexagon!
Faster setup vs lighter weight and more table room!
On the next update, I'll start to introduce AEGIS2's main characters, concepts, modes, and prebuilt teams!

Hello friends, new and old. Welcome (back) to AEGIS! (!!!!!!)
It appears that we are doing really well, that the game will be made, and that we're on our way to printing something really special. Thank you all so much. After chiseling away for years, it's really something to see AEGIS pop off again.
And now, the first update!
We Minorly Messed Up Shipping
This has already been fixed, but if you are outside the USA and are backing at the $149 level, please change your pledge to the International pledge so you don't get charged $20 extra dollars. Everyone else, carry on!
STRETCH GOALS
We've already broken two stretch goals! As our campaign proceeds, we will be unlocking a few different types of things.
More robots! AEGIS2 has 50 robots in it at base, and you all will be adding new sets of robots to the box as our money goes up. Each set will be tied to a character or theme. How many robots will there be?
AEGIS2Upgrades! More money, more stuff to make the game nicer and more usable by the time it hits your table.
SoloContent! The most demanded mode will get more bosses to fight against, and maybe...?
AEGIS1Upgrades! As long as we're reprinting original AEGIS, we can always make it a little nicer.
New Add-ons! As the campaign progresses, you may see new accessories, swag and even other games appear to add to your pledges at a nice Backers-only discount.
So now let's talk about...
GOAL 1 UNLOCKED: Ysis!
Sigaean Scion Ysis! by Noah Nagata
In the grand SIGEA tournament, Ysis is the judge for all sanctioned matches. You wanna square up? Watch out for Ysis, descending from orbit to scrutinize everything you do. Gotta beware of penalty calls! This hyper-advanced cyborg is unlike any other living thing on Sigaea - a perfect being created to smoothly run the biggest event on the planet!
Ysis's 9 Robots
She specializes in EnergyDrainingopponents and boosting the Energy Output of her allies. Not a very fair and balanced judge! If you really get on her bad side, she herself will merge with her robots and create the AIS-type ARLY-SION.
Arlysion by GenTrigger
And that's not even all she has up her metal sleeves!
With that, the box is up to 59 Robots! I wonder who's next?
GOAL 2: TRAY
AEGIS2 has a tray now! It's exactly the same as the first game's tray - meaning it can hold a bit over 100 sleeved cards, and has 8 buckets to keep your robot pieces nice and organized. The board slots in on top and keeps everything in place too. Should it be a fancy color? Maybe we'll do a poll!
For a glimpse at our tray, here's a repacking video from the very dense AEGIS1:
And yes, this time the boxes will have a little diagram included on what goes where. No stretch goals needed for that!
